Walls
If you have painted walls, then the steam from the shower can cause discolouration over time and can encourage wallpaper to peel off – if that is the option you chose a few years ago, of course. To create a stunning effect that runs throughout the room, try completely tiled walls. If you have a small area to work with then go for a light colour to open up the space and reflect the light. However, if your space is a little larger, a dark colour such as black or grey will give a sophisticated look to the room without risking impacting on the feel of the space.
Floor
Floor tiles are important as they will protect what is underneath from water which can often be present within a bathroom. It can be tempting to opt for cheaper lino in your bathroom, but this is nowhere near as durable, easy to maintain or visually appealing as a real tiled surface.
However, during the winter it can be a shock to the system when you step out of bed and into your bathroom as a tiled floor can be very cold. To avoid this, install underfloor heating and then lay the tiles on top. The result will not only be beautiful, but warming to the toes too!
