What Tools Do I Need for Tiling?

Tile Cutters

Most tiles can be cut with precision using a rail cutter, which is fairly simple to use. Most rail cutters will incorporate a scribing wheel constructed from tungsten carbide, which scores the tile before a breaking arm is pushed down onto it, breaking it along the scored mark.

Diamond Blade

If you choose to use an electric tile cutter with a circular saw, then the team here at Raynesway Tile & Bathroom Warehouse recommend using a diamond blade. This type of blade cuts faster, and more efficiently, for both wet and dry cutting conditions.

Tile Spacers

Tile spacers keep tiles at a set distance from each other during the installation process. You can even use them to create interesting and intricate patterns.

Tile Trowels

Your chosen tiles will need to be fixed to the desired surface with the correct recommended adhesive. To do this, you will need to evenly apply the adhesive to make the tile adhere as evenly as possible. Notched trowels will help you to achieve this uniform, clean, and professional result.

Grouting Tools

grout float, a flat rubber base topped with a handle, is necessary for pressing the grout into the gaps between your tiles.

Tile Nippers

Tile nippers are like pliers but are made for nipping off small chunks of tile in a controlled manner. This allows you to create more unusual shapes, and helps you tile around pipes or light fittings etc.

The Tools for Tiling that We Offer for Homeowners and Tradesmen

Here at Raynesway Tile and Bathroom Warehouse, we offer a wide range of heavy-duty tiling tools for tradesmen and homeowners alike. We provide all of the quality tools mentioned above, such as diamond drills, tile cutter, and handheld tiling products. We can also supply you with diamond blades if you choose to use an electric circular saw to cut your tiles with.

No tiling project is complete without grouting tools, like a grout float or tiling trowel. If you are a homeowner or tradesmen you want to know you have a wide selection of tools available here at Raynesway Tile and Bathroom Warehouse. The quality of our tiling tools and accessories can only be matched by the quality of our customer service. So, give our team a call today on 01332 49 21 06 to discuss your tiling project needs and requirements, in full detail, or if you prefer, you can email us on sales@rtwderby.co.uk or just visit our contact page to fill in our contact form, and we will be back in touch with you as soon as possible.

Where Do You Start When Tiling?

Measure twice and then measure it again. Your tape measure is the most important tool at the very beginning of your tiling process. You need to know the size of the wall or floor you wish to tile, and roughly how many tiles will be required. The excellent customer service team here at Raynesway Tile & Bathroom Warehouse can help you work out just how many tiles you need with the measurements you provide. Simply measure the height and width of the space then multiply the figures together. Any areas for doors, windows or features should be removed from the total. We recommend getting around 5-10% more tiles than what you need, just to cover cuts and waste.

Please advise if you require any help or information on the setting out of your tiling as this can vary in different installations.

When you’re ready to start laying your wall or floor tiles, it’s recommended that you start tiling in the centre of the area for a quality finish. This way, it’s easier to make sure your pattern is uniform and any half-tiles can go at the end of each row, in matching sizes. Starting in the corner may leave you with unsymmetrical rows and an uneven finish.

Why You Should Get Your Tools from Tiling Experts

The team here at Raynesway Tile & Bathroom Warehouse have worked on a wide range of tile-based projects over many years, and for many different applications. Each tiling project we have worked on has been different, varying from small domestic property projects to large scale corporate spaces, and everything in-between. In this time, we have used and tested a lot of tiling tools. With this wealth of experience, we know which quality tools are worth using and those that aren’t worth working with.

This is the main reason you should get your tools from tiling experts like us. Each and every product we offer or recommend has been tried and tested, and we use them ourselves here at Raynesway Tile & Bathroom Warehouse. Not only do you get high-quality products, but you also get advice on how to use them and an exceptional level of customer service you may not always get when getting your tools from non-tiling-experts.
